Leman Switzerland Boarding School history:
The school was established around 1960, when the Geneva commune made the requirement for Francis A. Clivaz to establish a private Switzerland boarding school for international students. The Original name of Leman School in French is “Lac Leman” Institute, which means “Geneva Lake Institute”. The school was built on grass fields, which was surrounded with fruit trees, tennis court and soccer field. At the first year, we received more than 100 applications and enrolled 80 boarding students.

The Switzerland School life revolved around the main building which is the Boy’s Residence nowadays. Clivaz family was living on campus as well. It is hard to imagine that the previous library took place of kitchen cold storage area at present. Mr. Oliver, a former teacher, remembers that the space was missing and teachers had to use the shower rooms as classrooms for few days. The determination to succeed, a pioneering spirit and enthusiasm led us to expansion and recognition. Next year we have enrolled 209 students and had new buildings reconstructed. In 1970 we have marked tenth anniversary and were stabilized for 750 students. We had new boarding and lodging facilities, school dinning rooms and outstanding personalities who joined us for school management, accounting and teaching divisions.

In 1971, the first IBM computer system was installed and the valuable knowledge of information age has been provided. In 1978, Leman Switzerland Boarding School was formally accredited by the European Council of International Schools and the Middle States Association of Colleges, Schools. The 1990th were marked with technology race and new teaching methods appearance. We have renovated and built new faculties for the school in 1999. At the turn of the century, Leman history Switzerland boarding School had celebrated its fortieth anniversary. For that occasion, our alumni, teachers and present placed a statue which symbolizes school hours. We believe that we will continue to improve by offering more sophisticated academic school programs, better services and facilities to our students in the 21st century.
