Ecole Nouvelle / International Boarding School of Lausanne - Extra-curricular activities
Sport is a lifetime activity and therefore of key-importance in the life of our students. It is common sense that being involved in sports activities on a regular basis has a positive impact on the quality of life. At Ecole Nouvelle / International Boarding School of Lausanne Sports Department, we are convinced of the fact that it is our duty to ensure a positive experience in sports in general and to present the biggest possible bouquet of different sports to our students in order to help them to discover and find their favourites. The majority of disciplines are integrated in our annual sports programmes during class but besides that we organized many additional incentives in sports that are slightly out of the regular
school sports programmes. On Wednesday afternoons, Saturdays and even during school holidays, we organized camps (skiing, windsurfing, etc.), courses and incentives (golf, horse-back riding, etc.) for our students to try to give them as many different sports experiences as possible. We are convinced that by proposing and presenting as many different disciplines in sports as possible to our students, we can help them exploring and discovering the sports activities that might help them to stay fit and healthy during their life. As many other things, the basis for an active, sports oriented life style is constructed during the period children and teenagers are in school. We do our very best to provide that basis.
The school day is organised according to the principle of educational continuity.During free periods, numerous enrichment activities are available : music and art workshops, sports, computer science, and directed study.
In addition to the sports activities of the regular school programme, students may also participate in ski camps, summer camps, and afternoon training for athletics, skiing, football, volleyball, and basketball competitions. “Sport Nights” bring together students from the whole school for competitions in an atmosphere of enthusiasm, friendliness, and fair play.
Two other International Boarding School of Lausanne traditions punctuate school life: the “Grand Jeu”, which tests the creativity, endurance and orienteering skills of students from the 7th to 12th grades, and the “Théâtrale”, which gives all students the opportunity to show off musical and acting talents developed in after-school workshops.
